Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Wednesday October 28 2026

Lakers vs Warriors prediction

Golden State arrives in Minnesota after its most convincing offensive performance of the opening week, a 134-114 win in Denver on Monday. The Timberwolves, meanwhile, lost a 127-125 thriller in Cleveland and have to approach Wednesday without Anthony Edwards, who is out for knee-injury management. That changes Minnesota's late-game offense and creates an opening for Stephen Curry to keep the Warriors within one possession. Minnesota still has the stronger size and defensive rebounding, but this is a matchup of different kinds of offensive creation.

Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves Matchup Preview

Golden State Warriors: Offensive and Rotation Outlook

Curry's gravity will be the starting point for Golden State. Denver struggled to keep the Warriors from finding rhythm, and Curry can force a defender to chase through several screens before the ball even reaches him. Brandin Podziemski and Draymond Green can exploit those movements with quick passes, while Gui Santos provides cutting and activity. Golden State does not have its full wing complement: Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody remain out, and Kristaps Porziņģis is not with the team. Yaxel Lendeborg is also questionable with foot discomfort.

The Warriors should not assume another 134-point night is available, particularly against Rudy Gobert's rim protection. Their path is to create enough perimeter movement to drag Minnesota's help away from the basket and then attack the second side quickly. Curry's outside shooting can produce explosive runs, but Golden State must also avoid giving the Timberwolves extra possessions with careless defensive rebounds. A smaller Warriors lineup can be dangerous offensively and vulnerable when Gobert seals deep.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Home-Court and Defensive Outlook

Minnesota has adapted to a very different offensive structure with LaMelo Ball directing possessions. Ball can create quick passing angles, Ayo Dosunmu supplies another guard capable of turning a corner, and Jonathan Kuminga attacks the basket when defenders close out too aggressively. Jaden McDaniels adds length across the wing, with Gobert anchoring the defense and finishing pick-and-roll plays. Edwards' absence removes the explosive scorer who would ordinarily settle an unproductive half-court possession late in the clock.

The Timberwolves' high-scoring loss in Cleveland demonstrates that they can still generate offense, but the defensive questions are real when a team can get into the lane repeatedly. Donte DiVincenzo is also out, limiting the perimeter rotation and shooting versatility. Minnesota's home court should help, and Ball's passing provides ways to generate easy looks without Edwards. The question is whether those possessions remain efficient in the fourth quarter when a defense denies the first action.

Head-to-Head Matchup and Game Keys

Golden State needs to make Gobert defend decisions rather than simply protect the rim. Curry can pull a big toward the perimeter, and Green's short-roll passing can then attack the opening behind him. Minnesota will counter by using McDaniels and Kuminga's length to pressure passing lanes and by making the Warriors rebound through contact. The result should be a close contest if Golden State keeps its turnovers manageable and does not get buried on second chances.

Game Thesis: Minnesota's size gives it the higher floor at home, but Curry's movement and Edwards' absence make a short underdog spread particularly valuable for Golden State.

Odds and Line Movement

Minnesota has been listed as a 3.5-to-4.5-point favorite, with totals in the upper 220s. That spread is tight enough for Curry's shot-making to flip the cover even in a game the Timberwolves control for long stretches. Golden State's moneyline has been priced above +140, but the safer position is the points rather than a required road win. The total hinges on how efficiently both sides replace the missing creation in their rotations.

Best Bet: Golden State Warriors +3.5 (-105)

Golden State +3.5 is the Best Bet. Curry can generate unusually efficient possessions against even strong defensive coverage, and the Warriors just showed they can score against a quality opponent. Minnesota's Gobert-led defense can still force long stretches of difficult finishing, so Golden State is not the outright favorite in this projection. But the Timberwolves no longer have Edwards available to create an automatic answer whenever the offense stalls, making a one-possession finish plausible.

Moneyline, Spread and Total Outlook

Minnesota is projected to win 115-112, a three-point margin that allows the Warriors to cover. The expected 227 combined points is close to the quoted total, leaving less reason to force a separate Over or Under. Ball's playmaking and Gobert's work at the rim can decide the game late, while Curry is capable of keeping the visitors close into the final minute. The spread is the best representation of that balance.

Top Player Prop Matchups

Stephen Curry three-pointers: His off-ball movement should generate both catch-and-shoot and pull-up opportunities as Minnesota tries to protect the lane.

LaMelo Ball assists: Minnesota will ask him to orchestrate more possessions without Edwards, increasing the importance of his passing decisions.

Final Prediction: Minnesota Timberwolves 115, Golden State Warriors 112

Best Bet: Golden State Warriors +3.5 (-105). Projected final score: Minnesota Timberwolves 115, Golden State Warriors 112.
