76ers vs. Hornets Prediction

Toronto and Washington both opened with emphatic wins. The Raptors embarrassed Chicago 135-92 in Kawhi Leonard's return, while the Wizards beat Milwaukee 128-116 behind Anthony Davis' 34 points and 12 rebounds. That sets up a more revealing test for both teams, especially for a Toronto offense that scored freely off forced turnovers.

Toronto Raptors vs Washington Wizards Matchup Preview

Toronto Raptors: Offensive Matchup

Toronto's defense generated 27 Bulls turnovers and turned mistakes into a 34-13 advantage in fast-break points. Kawhi Leonard, Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley each scored 23, while RJ Barrett added 20. The distribution is more important than Leonard's efficiency; he shot 5-for-17 yet still forced defensive attention and earned free throws.

Barnes can push after securing a rebound, Quickley gets into ball screens early and Leonard can create a reliable look late in the clock. Toronto needs those elements because Washington's Davis-led defense is a considerable step up from a Bulls team that struggled to keep the ball. The Raptors must control the glass rather than assuming they will get so many easy possessions again.

Washington Wizards: Home-Court Matchup

Davis was dominant in his first Wizards appearance, putting up 34 and 12 against the Bucks. Trae Young added 20 points and 13 assists, and Washington took control with a decisive second-half surge. The new lineup already has a coherent pick-and-roll game, with Young able to feed Davis near the rim or punish switches with floaters and passes.

Washington's first-game offense did not depend on elite three-point accuracy. That is encouraging, but Toronto will challenge the initial pass more effectively and bring multiple long defenders into Young's space. The Wizards are also without top pick AJ Dybantsa, who has been listed out with an ankle injury, reducing their wing scoring depth.

Matchup Dynamics and Injury Report

The Wizards have high-end playmaking from Young and Davis, but Toronto’s wing defense offers several different looks against the same screen action. Leonard, Barnes and Barrett bring enough size to switch without immediately opening a mismatch, while Quickley can attack Young in return.

Washington has ruled out AJ Dybantsa (ankle), Tristan Vukcevic (hip) and Jamir Watkins (knee), while Felix Okpara is questionable because of illness. Toronto lists Nate Bittle out with a foot fracture.

In the 2025-26 regular season, Toronto went 22-19 against the spread on the road, while Washington went 18-23 at home. Toronto road games finished with 14 Overs and 27 Unders, compared with 23 Overs and 18 Unders in Washington home games. Those previous-season results provide context, but the current rotations and matchup dynamics determine the more relevant scoring opportunities.

Odds and Line Movement

Toronto has moved from -4.5 at the opening number to -6.5 at DraftKings, one of the clearest spread moves on the schedule. The total sits around 236.5, slightly above some earlier 235.5 listings.

Best Bet: Toronto Raptors -6.5

The larger spread is still supported by Toronto’s ability to force turnovers and convert them into easy points. The Raptors scored 135 against Chicago and repeatedly punished careless passes; Washington’s defense gave Milwaukee room to score even in a comeback victory.

Davis is capable of controlling the paint and Young can generate quick threes, so Toronto may not pull away early. Over four quarters, the Raptors have stronger two-way wing personnel and enough scoring depth to create an eight-point road win.

Moneyline Outlook

Toronto is a substantial road favorite rather than a modest pick’em opponent. Washington has enough star power to stay dangerous, but its reliance on Young and Davis puts real pressure on the supporting guards to handle Toronto’s switches.

Spread Outlook

Toronto -6.5 is the preferred side despite the line move. The Raptors do not need another 43-point victory, but they must win the turnover battle and hold Washington’s auxiliary scorers in check.

Total Outlook

The total in the mid-230s allows for Washington’s shot creation and Toronto’s transition opportunities. The Raptors’ defensive approach may create fast breaks on one end while slowing the Wizards’ half-court efficiency at the other.

Player Props to Watch

Immanuel Quickley assists:

His seven assists against Chicago came alongside 23 points. Washington may concede more kickouts if Davis protects the rim, creating playmaking chances.

Anthony Davis rebounds:

Davis pulled down 12 against Milwaukee. Toronto's wings attack the glass and may change both his contested-rebound opportunities and foul exposure.

Final Prediction: Toronto Raptors 124, Washington Wizards 116

The projected final score is Toronto Raptors 124 and Washington Wizards 116, a combined 240 points. Best Bet: Toronto Raptors -6.5.
